I entered the journalism realm when I was 16, and developed my own website called The Global Post. There, I dedicated myself to reporting on the issues that mattered most to me, such as gun control, healthcare, and climate change.
As my journalism career progressed, my writing has also been featured in publications such as the Berkeley Beacon and ENSPIRE Magazine. These experiences have taught me about conducting interviews, writing, networking, editing, marketing, teamwork, and time management.
I primarily wrote for the news section during my time as a staff writer for the Beacon. I also took photos and published photo stories, where I focused mainly on protests and performing arts. My work with ENSPIRE exposed me to writing about different topics, including music, fashion, books, events, and films.
In college, my passion for journalism was fueled by fighting censorship on my campus. Experiencing censorship first-hand brought me to my ultimate goal as a journalist: to distribute truth and advocate for it as the pinnacle of journalistic values. A journalist can play many roles, such as a reporter, researcher, writer, and, most importantly, a teacher. The media can combat or perpetrate the spread of dangerous misinformation, and as a journalist, I do everything I can to oppose deception with truth.
